چکیده

This paper discusses the use of semantic technologies to increase quality, machine-processability, format translatability and crossquerying of complex tabular datasets. Our interest is to enable longitudinal studies of social processes in the past, and we use the historical Dutch censuses as case-study. Census data is notoriously difficult to compare, aggregate and query in a uniform fashion. We describe an approach to achieve this, discussing results, trade-offs and open problems.

Non-Temporal Orderings as Proxies for Extensional Concept Drift

In census data, concepts are central entities represented by variables and their values. The meaning of these concepts is often assumed to be stable, but in fact it can change over time: we call this concept drift. Extensional concept drift is one type of change of meaning that affects the things the concept extends to, having drastic consequences on longitudinal querying. In this paper we dete...

ارائه روشی پویا جهت پاسخ به پرس‌وجوهای پیوسته تجمّعی اقتضایی

Data Streams are infinite, fast, time-stamp data elements which are received explosively. Generally, these elements need to be processed in an online, real-time way. So, algorithms to process data streams and answer queries on these streams are mostly one-pass. The execution of such algorithms has some challenges such as memory limitation, scheduling, and accuracy of answers. They will be more ...

Linking 2006 Census and hospital data in Canada.

BACKGROUND Record linkage is commonly used in health research to fill data gaps. This study summarizes the linkage of the 2006 Census of Population (excluding Quebec) to hospital data from the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD). DATA AND METHODS Hierarchical deterministic exact matching was employed to link 2006 Census and DAD (2006/2007, 2007/2008 and 2008/2009) data, based on linkage keys de...

An analysis of patient register data in the Longitudinal Study - what does it tell us about the quality of the data?

This article uses data for members of the ONS Longitudinal Study (LS) from both Census 2001 enumeration and patient registrations "frozen" on census day 2001 from the National Health Service Central Register (NHSCR) to examine potential sources of difference in area of usual residence.Overall 95.7 per cent of ONS LS members enumerated at census resided in the same area as recorded on the NHSCR ...

Laryngeal cancer in Denmark: a nationwide longitudinal study based on register linkage data.

To identify high and low risk groups for laryngeal cancer in Denmark, all individuals aged 30-74 in the 1970 census were followed up over 10 years. Census data were linked with the Central Population Register to identify persons who died or emigrated during the follow up, and with the Danish Cancer Register to identify cases of laryngeal cancer. Individuals were categorised according to sex, ag...
